Divesites
TAJMA HA:
Certainly in summer time, march to end of September it is an absolute highlight with laser light beams in the “Room of Lights” light effects and back light impressions at Cenote “Sugar bowl” and “Esmeralda” and an extraordinary Stalagmite the “Candlestick” and a lot of Stalagtites at the ceiling! This very eventful dive with a maximum depth of 14 meters/ 47 feet has as well in the deeper parts “Halocline”. It is known for continuously strong changes of depth as the “roller coaster” and is nothing for divers with equalizeing problems!

DOS OJOS – BARBIE LINE:
With a maximum depth of 8 meters/ 27 feet, Dos Ojos is one of the shallower cave systems and therefore it has no “Halocline”, but charms with extraordinary good visibility of more than 100 meters/ 330 feet! It is with around 56 kilometers explored cave system not only the third largest of the world, but Dos Ojos was over a million of years a dry cave it build up columns of 5 meters/ 18 feet height and a lot of Stagatites and Stalagmites. The view out of the darkness to the day light is unique and not comparable! more... |
DOS OJOS – BAT CAVE:
Bat Cave is with a maximum depth of 10 meters/ 33 feet certainly one of the most beautiful, decorated Caves. Walls of columns, limestone which is formed like waterfalls reminds you of a fairytale world. As well you are swimming around an air dome where you can surface and spot between the stalagtites some little grey bats in the “Bat cave”. The entire dive leads over soft sediment what reminds you of sand dunes and is one of the darkest ones therefore nothing for divers with bad buoyancy or claustrophobia! more... |
DREAMGATE:
A still very newly opened Cenote to the diving public, where you attempt two different dives. Dreamgate is like the name says a real dream – by far the most decorated cavern that still gives me goose pimples on my skin! Both dives are with a maximum depth of 6 meters/ 21 feet very shallow and sometimes very narrow, so it is nothing for inexperienced divers because the buoyancy in this very decorated cavern is very demanding! more... |
ANGELITA:
Angelita is completely different as all the other once because you dive only in the open water area. The specialty is a layer of hydrogen sulfate at around 28 meters/ 110 feet exactly in the 1.5 meter/ 6 feet thick “Halocline” which formed through rotten vegetation. Out of this opaque artificial seeming surface rises the top of the collapsed cave ceiling, like an island with trees on it. You can’t describe “Angelita” you have to dive and experience it by yourself! Definitely an unforgettable experience. more... |
THE PIT:
We get a real adventure because not only the dive itself even the way which leads to the Pit and the entrance is extraordinary. You have to carry your equipment for several minutes and it is followed by a jump of 7 meters/ 24 feet height with your equipment into the Cenote. “The Pit” is with 110 meters/ 370 feet the deepest in the Yucatan Peninsula and we dive to about 40 meters/ 150 feet maximum – necessary education required – if not 30 meters/ 120 feet maximum. more... |
CALAVERA:
With a jump of 3 meters/ 11 feet into a little hole in the ground makes “Calavera” different like the other Cenotes. The dive is with 17 meters/ 58 feet one of the deeper ones and leads mostly through the “Halocline”. Calavera has a lot of soft clay silt and punishes you with quick decreasing visibility for every wrong done fin kick. The view up to the little entrance hole and the darkness leaves you a mystic impression of the “Skull” (Calavera). more... |
GRAND CENOTE:
Definitely one of the most beautiful Cenotes because similar like Dos Ojos Grand Cenote was for a very long time a dry cave and build up huge columns and formations. The combination of visibility, light effects and formations makes Grand Cenote with a maximum depth of 11 meters/ 36 feet which belongs to the world largest cave system “Sac Aktun” with 152 kilometers an unforgettable experience! Grand Cenote should be certainly on your list… more... |
AKTUN HA – CARWASH:
Carwash has a big open water area similar like “Ponderosa” with some trees laying in the entrance area of the upstream section which provides very nice photo and video motives. In the summer time with higher temperatures there is a build up of a green layer 2 meters/ 7 feet below the surface which warms up several degrees compared to the rest of the Cenote water. Below this layer it is crystal clear and that gives you a unique impressions from the view out of the cave into the open water area. In the winter time with decreasing temperatures this layer disappears. more... |
CASA CENOTE:
Casa Cenote is the outlet of the worlds largest, water filled cave system, (Sac Aktun) into the ocean. The dive leads most of the time through mangroves and because of its high salt content you can find primary marine habitants like tarpons, moray eels and snapper. The dark roots hanging down from the ceilings of the caves appear like stalagtites creating a mystical atmosphere. It is not rare that you see some quiet big crabs digging themselves into the soft sediment. more... |
PET CEMETERY:
This recently opened cenote, charms with its stunning formations of stalagtites and stalagmites and because of its remoteness, you can really enjoy the nature. With maximum 6 meter it's quite a shallow dive site. The bottom is made up by soft sediment and reminds one of a dunes landscape. The entire dive is very dark and there is a good chance to see the cave blind fish. Most of the time there is a direct ascent to the surface possible and that makes Pet Cemetery a worthwhile destination as well for snorkeling. more... |
